Vincenzo, Matilde, Allison and Matteo live in the same small town, each trying to move forward one step at a time, without being overwhelmed by their struggles.
Vincenzo is a 45-year-old former alcoholic who runs a gas station. Haunted by guilt for having destroyed his family because of alcohol, he struggles to resist temptation and make it through each day. To make ends meet, he illegally trades packages he knows almost nothing about.
Matilde, a few years younger than Vincenzo, is raising her eight-year-old son on her own. A life of excess has left its mark on her face, but not on her determination. She does everything she can to secure enough money to give her son a decent life, even if it means taking paths that don’t suit her — constantly fighting to stay afloat.
Allison is 17 and lives in a youth community after reporting her father for abuse. Behind her tough and defiant attitude lies a frightened and insecure girl. She rejects rules and, to avoid facing her future, gets into trouble with her boyfriend.
Matteo, 38, is a teacher working in the same community. He is deeply committed to his job, sometimes too much, which puts a strain on his relationship. He cares deeply about Allison and wants to help her build a future.
Over the course of a single day, as everything seems to move without pause, their lives intersect — and are changed forever.
