Synopsis

In 1675, Europe is torn apart by dynastic alliances, religious wars and the struggle for supremacy between France and the House of Habsburg. Amid this political turmoil, the strategically vital Duchy of Savoy experiences a brief period of peace and prosperity under the rule of an extraordinary woman: Marie-Jeanne de Nemours, known as Madama Reale.

The series begins shortly before her marriage to Carlo Emanuele II, Duke of Savoy. Arriving from France, the young orphan falls deeply in love with him, only to face disappointment. When her husband suddenly dies, everything changes: Marie-Jeanne becomes Regent until her son Vittorio comes of age.

For the first time, Madama Reale discovers her true purpose — she was born to rule. Rejecting war as a path to power, she transforms Turin into a new center of culture and knowledge. But ambition comes at a cost. As she gains influence, she also creates dangerous enemies, sacrificing her relationship with her son, who grows resentful and hungry for revenge.

As mother and son clash in a battle for the future of Savoy, the series explores power, identity and survival in a patriarchal world, through the intertwined stories of three women struggling to shape their own destiny.
