Synopsis

Eleven-year-old Asia claims to be the reincarnation of Michele Garavani, a writer who died just before she was born. After a television appearance, Asia and her father, Luca, are invited to spend the Christmas holidays at the Garavani villa by Michele’s widow, Katerina. Upon arrival, Asia displays an uncanny knowledge of the home and adopts the sharp wit and mannerisms of the late writer, even dressing in his old clothes to force Katerina into a surreal role-play of their past marriage.

As a snowstorm traps them inside, the tension peaks during Christmas Eve dinner when Asia-as-Michele attempts to reveal the truth about the writer’s death. This spark of conflict eventually leads to a poignant reconciliation with Michele’s estranged son, Ilario, through shared intimate memories.

On Christmas morning, amidst the emotional wreckage and the onset of her first menstruation, Asia finally sheds the writer’s ghost. In the quiet of the woods, she confronts the reality of her own life and the absence of her mother, finally reclaiming her own voice and childhood.
