Synopsis

Ida, a twenty-five-year-old woman haunted by vivid and disturbing dreams, reaches her elderly grandmother, a famous anthropologist now at the end of her life, in a luxurious thermal hotel.

As the grandmother’s body progressively yields to illness, a tight and feverish confrontation unfolds between the two women, intertwining the clinical reality of the present with faded memories of ethnographic expeditions to Samoa in the 1920s.

The grandmother, faithful to her clinical eye, recognizes in Ida’s dreams not simple fantasies, but true unconscious “field reports”. The young woman finds herself as the final “research subject” of a grandmother who has never stopped observing the world with fierce scientific detachment.

Through a final ritual involving a mysterious infusion of berries, the narrative explores the passing of the torch between generations, the thin line between truth and academic fiction, and the power of dreams to throw open doors that reason tries in vain to archive.
