1997. Eight-year-old Linda drifts away from her wealthy grandmother’s Swiss villa with her carefree mother, Eva. Settling in a quiet neighborhood in Italy, Linda meets sisters Azzurra and Marta. A chance summer encounter binds the three girls into a “gang” formed to protect each other, their youth, and their freedom.
Around them swirl selfish parents chasing fragile dreams, gossiping neighbors, and a queer babysitter searching for belonging in a homophobic world. Through a saturated and energetic visual lens, Mosquitoes explores the end of childhood and the fierce solidarity needed to navigate a disillusioned adult world.
